Funerals come at the end of a life
When we lie down and let go of strife
Perhaps we didn't want to go
Or we don't want a show
Perhaps we are thankful for what we had
The fun, the love, the good and the bad
All of our memories are now tied to others
Daughters and sons, sisters and brothers.
Now starts a new part of our journey so some say
But our loved ones are left here to survive another day
Our photographs are now put in a lovely frame
We are talked about to others with love and acclaim
Remembering the good bits, funny bits, with love and affection
Some tears may fall, some hearts may break and shatter
But lives go on and it’s the feelings that matter.
Love the poem

ReplyDeletePS Did you know you still have word verification turned on? It might put some people off commenting.
ReplyDeleteHI Claire, I thought I had turned it off and now can't find out how to do it.
DeleteI love this! Hopefully you've shared this with someone who has experienced a loss. It is very comforting.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.
ReplyDeleteBoth sweet and sad. I've been to three funerals of people very close to me. The last line is the hardest to accept, but the most important.
ReplyDeleteSad but lovely.. You are so gifted.. :-)
ReplyDeleteIndeed, the memories matter most.
