100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups – Week#44
Here in the UK we are celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. There is bunting and celebration everywhere.
So combining both these situations the prompt this week is to write a poem. It doesn’t have to rhyme or be specifically about the Monarch but it should capture the passing of sixty years. I will give you some poetic license with the number of words and say 100 words -ish!
She lives her life in a gold fish bowl
Her every move scrutinised
Her face is known world wide
Family life has no secrets
She fell in love at an early age
Still in love for over six decades
She’s seen changes and innovations
Trials and tribulations
Met other kings and queens
And beings who reign supreme
Throughout it all she’s a wife
A mother, a grandmother
Working hard throughout her life
The man standing beside is her stay and support
An extraordinary woman who leads our great nation
Proud to serve her people for as long as she is able.
We Americans are fascinated by the royals. She's truly lived an amazing life... love your poem.
ReplyDeleteOh so true, what a woman.
ReplyDeleteLovely poem! I love the two pictures of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. I don't think I really appreciated how much The Duke of Edinburgh gave up for The Queen when the two of them got married. It's been lovely watching some of the special Jubilee programmes this week.
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem! The pictures are really sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely poem and the picture is amazing! Hope you've been having a wonderful Jubilee!
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Although she is Queen you have captured a real side to her. Thank you for joining our diamond challenge!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and pictures. She truly is a QUEEN.
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I love those comparison pictures.
