PIZZA
That is disgusting. Gran wrinkled her nose at the mess. The half-eaten pizza, all sorts of things cluttered
on the work top. She rolled up her
sleeves, donned her pinny and started tackling the detritus. Picking up the soggy box to deposit it in the
bin, she was stopped in her tracks.
‘GRAN, STOP.’
She whirled round, as much as her
arthritic knees allowed her to nearly dropping the offending item.
‘I want that for my breakfast.’
Her tousled headed, six foot
grandson leered down at her, smiling endearingly.
Sean dropped a kiss on her cheek.
‘Thanks, Gran,’ he mumbled.

Urgh, cold pizza. I'm sure Gran will say something like 'kids these days!' Nice tale.
ReplyDeleteDear Sally,
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sean. I like cold pizza for breakfast. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

ReplyDeleteCold pizza for breakfast. This brings back many memories.
ReplyDelete"Pinny" and "detritus" in the same sentence -- love it!
ReplyDeleteSecond-day pizza can be okay if you know how to heat it up right. But eating it cold? His taste buds have been seriously damaged.
ReplyDeleteI'd say this a real slice (pun intended) of life, Sally. I was raised in a "waste-not, want-not" atmosphere. We didn't throw anything away that was still edible.
ReplyDeleteCold pizza is the best! Gran probably never tried it.
ReplyDeleteMan... Detritus is the word of the week (including in mine!)...
Cold pizza brings back memories of my college days. Fun story!
ReplyDeleteI see how he manages to charm himself out of trouble...
