CONSEQUENCES

She saw the dewdrops sparkling like diamonds, glinting with forgotten memories, brilliant with hope, the love she felt for her family was the only thing that kept her going in these dark, dismal days.  The work was hard, conditions were harsh but she accepted her punishment as her due.

The next few years would prove to her and her loved ones that she accepted the consequences of her actions.  In time maybe they would understand what had driven her to such desperate measures, such loneliness that she now endured.

Would they still be waiting for her when she returned?

  3. This makes me want to know more - what has she done and what is it that is causing her suffering? Is she punishing herself with her guilt?

  4. Oh, linking the sparkling dewdrops to hope and love is a brilliant idea. Great writing, I love it.
