THE HONEYMOON

Monica stretched luxuriously in the bed.  The sounds from the street below had penetrated her deep sleep, early morning coming to life.  She turned to kiss her new husband, Robert, but found an empty space.

Wrapping her satin negligee around her she peeked out of the window and smiled as the sunlight made shadows on the cobbled street below.  In the distance she could see Robert’s blond head disappearing around the corner.

She snuggled back under the feather down duvet admiring the shiny, new golden band on her left hand. She hoped their whirlwind elopement would last many, many years.

Finish the story begins with: “Delphine always wanted to pilot her father’s plane and when he forgot his keys on her tenth birthday, she knew that taking off would be easy.”

FEVER

“Delphine always wanted to pilot her father’s plane and when he forgot his keys on her tenth birthday, she knew that taking off would be easy.”

Soaring high above the ground, nothing but blue skies, no boundaries, no limits, normal constraints no longer existed.   Delphine saw pink and white balloons with ‘Happy Birthday’ emblazoned on their rubber skins.  She sang along with her guests as they carolled the birthday song, mainly out of tune but with great gusto.

The air become a little chilly, the radio played only static, panic began to set in, Delphine’s legs started to shake as she trembled with the cold.  Her forehead became covered in beads of sweat as she thrashed wildly around trying to control the rudder.

She heard somebody whispering.  It was her dad’s voice breaking through the fog of panic.

‘It looks as though her fever is breaking.’

A heartfelt sigh rebounded across the bedroom walls as her mother tried to straighten her bedcovers while she cooled her daughter’s fevered brow with a cold flannel.

THE TUNNEL

The following photo is the PHOTO PROMPT. Does it tell you a story?

THE TUNNEL

Emma was late; dismissing the  beeping alarm she’d turned over for a few more minutes that had stretched into twenty.  Now she had to make up for lost time.  She would have to take the short cut through the hated underpass with its dank grey walls dripping with condensation, the dim lighting, the foetid smells of the night before and the horrors that had taken place.

Tentatively Emma stepped in the passageway hoping against hope nobody would follow her or enter from the other direction; she kept her eyes firmly fixed on the light at the end of the tunnel.
