RESEARCH
The
research facilities were her life now.
She’d given up everything to follow her dream. A career she had aspired to since she was 11
years old and read about the great Roald Amundsen.
Her
email pinged.
‘Hi Anna,
Wanna come to
lunch? Fish fingers today.
Bob’
Bob
was the first friend she had made when joining the team; his bushy beard hid a
sensual mouth, very white teeth and bright blue eyes that scorched her soul
from under his equally bushy eyebrows.
‘Hi Bob,
Got any ketchup?
Anna’
Nine
months later baby Bob made his entry into the history books.

My goodness, that must have been quite a first date!
ReplyDeleteNo sense wasting time. . . very nice. I might look into Friday Fictioneers. . .it would keep me on my toes, if you know my meaning.
ReplyDeleteWelcome baby Bob! A light and fun story.
ReplyDeleteFlash date meets flash fiction. Man, that was fast!
ReplyDeleteSounds like lunch went well!
ReplyDeleteMust find a way to keep warm...
ReplyDeleteFish fingers... so romantic. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteDear Sally,
ReplyDeleteAt least she found a way to keep warm, didn't she? Nicely done. I love the use of email in the story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Love the conversations and characters. Did he include candles and flowers with the fish fingers?
ReplyDeleteDon't often read about fish fingers and babies in the same short story! Incidentally I prefer brown sauce with mine! Just thought I'd mention it!
