FRIDAY FICTIONEERS - DAYS GONE BY

FRIDAY FICTIONEERS

The following photo is the PHOTO PROMPT. What story does it have to tell?

DAYS GONE BY
This is all that is left of those 70’s years
The mud, dust, sweat and tears
Racing round and round
Crunching gears into the ground
Windowless, bashed and crumpled
Knees bent, overalls rumpled
Bob concentrated on the photographs
He remembers the fun and laughs
His wife pointed to the stock car
His own logo a panther or a jaguar
Those were the days of long ago
He was young and gung-ho
He imparted his love of speed to his boys
They now raced amid the hubbub and noise
The adrenaline buzz won’t fade away
He relives it every single day.

  1. I go to a stock car track near me sometimes. Those lads really take it seriously, like it's grown up fun fair dodgems! You really caught the atmosphere (but not the belching smoke thankfully!)

  4. I've never been into stock car racing but I know people who are. They can't get enough of it.

  6. The passion for racing seems to be in the genes of that family. Great description. Well done, Sally. :) --- Suzanne
