MY BED

100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups – Week#80

The prompt is:
…despite the pounding in my head…
As usual you have 100 words to add to these 6 to produce a creative piece of writing.

MY BED
I turned over languorously in my bed
Despite the pounding in my head
I’d slept peacefully all night long
The radio was playing a song
As I nodded slowly into slumber
Hoping the nightmare didn’t recur.
I stretched my arms to the side of the bed
Ruffling the covers of the pretty bedspread
With its pink polka dots, flowers, fancy
Scrolls and butterflies, I reached for my teddy.
A comforter although I am grown now
Some people would still raise an eyebrow
I didn't care what they thought
He helped me when I was distraught.
I hear the stairs creak
I only manage a tiny squeak.

  1. Eerie... Sounds like the worst case of guest on his way.

  3. Enjoyed the writing Sally. Good lines in there to hint at an edge and I liked the imagery and language. The 'sunshine' words that you use are the perfect foil for the menace that lingers below.

  4. Well done! I am not generally a fan of poetry, but I quite enjoy poetic prose. I like your use of language here.

  5. I wouldn't want to be in that bed. I felt a bit uncomfortable, I hope that was your intention :)
