GREY

100 Word Challenge for Grown Ups – Week#68
Posted on November 26, 2012 by Tanner

The prompt fits well with the weather and November. It is simply:
…GREY…
As usual you must restrict your writing to 100 words and make it suitable for PG certificate. If you are confused what this is all about do read ‘What is 100WCGU?’ and it might help. The link will close at 9pm on 3rd December

Grey

The entire land became covered in a grey drizzle
North to South, East to West felt so sterile
An insidious moistness crept into the very souls of their beings
It was so very difficult to get their bearings
They couldn’t believe the sun wouldn’t shine again.
They should have had more faith in the spokesmen
The strong men and women who believed the sun would appear
It would shine down on their land and make everything clear
The sun did appear and gradually burnt away the greyness
Joy came to the world again as it chased away the foulness.

  1. This poem feels like home. We've had nothing but rain and drizzle for days on end. Today, the sun is trying real hard to make an appearance through the clouds, hopefully it'll burn away the greyness soon.

  2. It's nice to know that the gray won't last forever. :)

  5. Sterile seems a little unfair, as the soil does need the water...
A hopeful end, that's what we need.

Could link to the post, and not leave the generic blog address in the linky?

    1. Sorry, I don't understand the generic blog address in the linky? I'm not very technically minded. I was told to link the post and not the blog.

  8. Hello Sally. Well that was an at times bleak picture. One thing Oz rarely is - grey. Might be brown and red, but thankfully mainly blue!
I'm back from my self-imposed hiatus and am getting around saying hi, especially to RFWers. Hoping to have you on our Holiday Spirit blogfest. :D

  9. Monday was like that here. Fog in the morning that grew thicker well into the afternoon. Still gloomy on Tuesday, but fog-free. Wednesday was bright and sunny. Today is overcast, but not too gloomy.

    Nice poem.

    Cheers!
